Medical Officer ( National Position )

The Medical officer will support the Health Programme Manager (HPM) for coordinating and implementing health programme activities in the field. Medical officer will spend 40% to 50% of his / her time in the field to monitor programme activities, ensure quality standards are maintained / adhered to and provide supportive supervision.

The essential duties of this position are as follows:
To respond to humanitarian emergencies under the direction and management of the HPM
To coordinate with the relevant local authorities and other sector actors working in the region as may be necessary
Assist in health, nutrition and humanitarian needs assessments and the existing contexts
Assist in the set-up and establishment of new health facilities
Identification and induction of health staff for project area
Provide field support to project health team in project site
Monitoring and supervision of trauma and primary healthcare facilities through monthly visits and share findings with HPM manager and Medical Coordinator
Assist in training health staff to build capacity and ensure the maximum use of their skills, and their full and effective participation in health activities whilst conforming to IMC, health authority and international protocols and quality standards
Support HPM in the planning, development (proposal writing) and implementation of the projects
Support in compiling timely project reports and ensure the gathering of relevant health data along with Health Officer
Ensure appropriate medical supplies (including pharmaceuticals) and equipment are ordered and provided to supported health facilities in timely manner
Support Medical Commodities Manager in generating monthly medicine consumption reports from the field
Support Health and Hygiene Promotion (HHP) Manager in planning and implementing community health and hygiene activities and training of HHP teams
Work closely with IMC health staff and other staff to meet health project objectives and targets
Provide the necessary information for the monthly update and review monthly health staff payrolls
Adhere to IMC Code of Conduct and internationally accepted humanitarian principles
Follow all IMC rules and regulations including security clearances before travel
Any other tasks as requested by the Medical Coordinator or designated person

Qualification:
Must be an accredited health professional with a valid certification and documents
Must have at least 5 years’ experience working as a Medical Officer or medical services coordinator in public or private health facilities
Experience and / or good understanding of public health practices and principles is desirable
Previous work experience with non-governmental organizations is desirable
Must be able to write and submit required reports in English
Experience in training medical / health staff is desirable
Experience and good understanding of supportive supervision
Must have excellent organizational skills and ability to handle multiple tasks in a dynamic, high pressure environment
Must have the flexibility and ability to work effectively with various personalities and cultures Must be fluent (both written and spoken) in Arabic and English
